Nick died on 28 September 2020 after a short and fierce battle with cancer, which had stared as a melanoma. Unfortunately it spread and he, at the same time, battled hospital appointments during Covid. With Hospitals reluctant to see anyone. He eventually was diagnosed, but at quite an advanced stage of the disease.
Nick worked for the Company in a number of roles since 2016. Bringing his own style to each one. He was calm and considered in both his spoken and written word and was much appreciated by clients and colleagues alike.
Nick was a keen rugby player, playing for his local side St. Leonards (Cinque Ports) Rugby. He was less calm and considered on the pitch, and far more uncompromising and immoveable – great qualities for a tight-head prop.
As with his rugby, at work he was a great team player. Senior Network Engineer Ben Gillam wrote:
“You were taken far too young. Only known you a few years but was always guaranteed a good debate or bit of friendly banter and I finally found someone who understood and shared my obsession/passion for Red Dwarf…
We’ll miss you”
